13 avril 2021 – Par Jane Englefield. L’artiste et designer Maya Lin a installé 49 cèdres morts dans le Madison Square Park de Midtown Manhattan pour sensibiliser le public à la disparition des écosystèmes due au changement climatique.
Intitulé Ghost Forest, le projet a été commandé par le Madison Square Park Conservancy. Les cèdres blancs de l’Atlantique morts ont été érigés sur la pelouse ovale du parc.
Lin transported the ghostly trees from where they were felled in the New Jersey Pine Barrens to draw attention to deforestation caused by climate change.
« I wanted to bring a ghost forest to the heart of Manhattan, and find trees that were as close to Manhattan as I could possibly source, » explained Lin.
